The Area

Courchevel 1550 is part of the 3 Valleys resort, located at the altitude of 1550M. It is a small familial resort, but part of the largest ski field in the world, the 3 Valleys, and easy access to Courchevel 1850, the glamourous one (one 3' Telecabine, or alternatively a fast chair lift) as well as le Praz, the more sportive and lovely old village at 1350. There is an excellent French Ski school (direct reservations on the Ecole du Ski Français site), benefiting from the advantage of a smaller resort, as well as access to the International Ski school. Skiing back to 1550 from 1850 is easy and usually open all season, even when there is little snow. Ski equipment available with a discount from Intersport at the entrance of the village (possible advance reservations on the Intersport site). Wi-fi is available in the Tourism Office at the center of the village. Small supermarket in the village, an outdoor market and supermarkets in 1850. For weekly provisions, hypermarkets are accessible on the way over in Albertville or Moutiers (Hyperchampion).

In the summer, there is also a lot of activities available, many tennis courts just outside the village, access to summer skiing in Val Thorens, cross bike on the slopes, walking and hiking in the mountains, term baths in the valley, swimming pool ...

How to get there: the easiest is of course by train, TGV to Moutiers from Paris (direction Bourg St Maurice in 4H30), Lille (Eurotunnel) or even London directly, then 1/2 hour by taxi, or regular buses to Courchevel. By car, there is since the Albertville Olympics a highway all the way to Albertville, via Lyon, Chambery followed by a dual carriage way to Moutiers, and finally a 30' mountain road to Courchevel from Moutiers (7hours from Paris). Easy access also from the Eurotunnel/Lille via Dijon or Geneva (1H30). There is a small aiport in Courchevel 1850 for small planes or helicopters from Lyon or Geneva.

The location is from Sunday to Sunday which avoids the worst of the traffic both by car and train.
